Yeah, run the apt-show-versions command first on 14.04 so we know for
sure what we're dealing with. I expect 0.15.something to be installed
on a vanilla trusty (14.04) machine.
The reason for not seeing anything for "libprotobuf-c0" in vivid (15.04)
is that Ubuntu seems to have changed their naming scheme between the
releases. Compare this:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/libprotobuf-c0-dev
to this:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/vivid/libprotobuf-c-dev
and note the absence of the "0" suffix in the latter. Had I realized
you were trying to install on 15.04, I wouldn't have bothered with all
the dpkg / pkg-config stuff in the first place.
