Hi everyone,
Some of you may have heard that I was out of commission for a while due to removal of half a cancerous kidney followed by a fractured and compressed radius of my right forearm. I am back in operation now.
On the news front:
The second compendium of AADL Annexes has been published in Jan 2011. It consists of the Behavior Annex, the Data Modeling Annex, and the ARINC653 Annex. See http://standards.sae.org/as5506/2/.
The Aerospace AVSI consortium with members including Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Rockwell Collins, BAE Systems, etc completed a set of proof of concept demonstrations in Jan 2011. See https://wiki.sei.cmu.edu/aadl/images/d/de/SAVI_Virtual_Integration-AVICPS2010.pdf for a recent paper and https://wiki.sei.cmu.edu/aadl/index.php/SAVI_Demonstrations of videos of the demonstrations.
Check out the presentations from the last two AADL meetings (https://wiki.sei.cmu.edu/aadl/index.php/AADL_User_Days ) .
At the April meeting we discussed a first draft of the Error Model Annex revision as well as work on a requirements annex.
AADL is part of three projects under the DARPA META program. Check for presentations at the Jan and April 2011 AADL meetings (https://wiki.sei.cmu.edu/aadl/index.php/AADL_User_Days ).
S. Miller from Rockwell Collins, S. Vestal from Adventium, and K. Driscoll from Honeywell.
On the public AADL Wiki (https://wiki.sei.cmu.edu/aadl) I updated the list of AADL related publications (https://wiki.sei.cmu.edu/aadl/index.php/Publications_arranged_by_year). Please let me know of papers that I am missing.
A couple of interesting papers:
By Ken Evensen of JPL on "Reducing Uncertainty in Architectural Decisions with AADL" which compares working with AADL models to expressing the same architecture in MARTE (https://wiki.sei.cmu.edu/aadl/index.php/2011_Publications#HICSS_Evensen_2011).
By the MODELME! Team at the Simula Research Laboratory incl. Bran Selig "An AADL-Based SysML Profile for Architecture Level Systems Engineering: Approach, Metamodels, and Experiments" (http://simula.no/publications/Simula.simula.380/simula_pdf_file ).
Finally, we have funding in place to finish out the release of OSATE V2.
Peter & Bruce
PS. Reminder that the AADL meetings are always open and available through Webex. Let us know if you are interested in participating. The next meeting is in Paris, France on June 6-9,2011.
