Dear All,

Here's the updated agenda for the meeting in Uberlingen, July 10-13.
Please check it to insure that any presentations you have fall on days
you will be at the meeting. We've adjusted for all the inputs received.

I will send later the information for the teleconference and web
meetings support for those presenting or attending remotely.

Please join me in congratulating Peter!! He received two very
prestigious awards from the SEI for his AADL and Model Based Development
contributions. The SEI Annual report will also include a write-up on
the AADL. See the SEI announcement below.

Thanks,
Bruce

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The 2005 AJ Awards ceremony was held May 17, 2006.

The list and descriptions of the award recipients follow below. For more
information about the AJ Awards, including descriptions of the award
categories and lists of 2005 and past recipients of AJ awards and
service awards, please see http://www-internal.sei.cmu.edu/teams/do/aj/

Congratulations again to the recipients and nominees; and thanks again
to the nominators, committee members, participants in the process, and
attendees!

    Contribution Award

      Peter Feiler, Dynamic Systems

As a senior member of the technical staff, Peter has led the development
of the Architecture Analysis and Design Language (AADL). AADL, which
became an international SAE Aerospace Standard, is a very powerful
software engineering tool that allows the modeling and validation of
critical system attributes and behaviors. Peter's work with the AADL
will have a lasting impact on the practice of model-based development
for embedded systems.

    Dedication Award

Sheila Rosenthal, Financial and Business Services

As the Manager of Library Services, Sheila directs the efforts of the
library staff and ensures that the SEI technical staff has the resources
needed to succeed in furthering the SEI's mission. She is widely
recognized for her competence and efficiency and for consistently
providing timely and accurate information.

    Innovation Award

Veterans Affairs Information Technology (VA IT) Strategic Planning
Team: Linda Parker Gates (Team Lead), Kate Ambrose, Rita Creel,
Eileen Forrester, SuZ Garcia, Bill Novak, David White

This team developed a powerful, repeatable method to assist the
Department of Veterans Affairs with strategic planning. This new method
combines the Critical Success Factors method with the Scenario-Based
Planning method to make short- and long-term IT planning and investment
decisions.

    Director's Office Award for Excellence

      Roman Danyliw, Networked Systems Survivability

Roman has achieved a balance between making excellent technical
contributions and managing a sometimes challenging set of customers and
team members. His technical contributions include improvements to the
open-source software System for Internet Level Knowledge (SiLK) and
Automated Incident Reporting (AirCERT), participation in Internet
Engineering Task Force (IETF) working groups on security, and
contributions to visualization and analysis software for the DoD and
Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Because of Roman's leadership,
the SiLK technology is now the cornerstone of DoD's Centaur project and
is in production use to monitor security events on the NIPRNet--and
soon, the SIPRNet. Through his involvement in DHS's Einstein project,
SiLK is also used as the base for US-CERT's initiative to help federal
civilian agencies to instrument and monitor their critical networks.

Roman is also commendable for his skill managing a diverse team of
programmers, analysts, and researchers to satisfy the rapidly changing
demands of National Security Agency (NSA), DHS, Defense Information
Systems Agency (DISA), and the Joint Task Force-Global Network
Operations (JTF-GNO).

      Peter Feiler, Dynamic Systems

Peter has been an early contributor to the field of software
engineering. He has been with the SEI for 21 years, and his SEI duties
included five years of management. His interests include dependable
real-time systems, architecture languages for embedded systems, and
predictable system analysis & engineering.
Since 1999, Peter has been working on the Architecture Analysis and
Design Language (AADL), which allows complex systems to be developed
with less work and greater reliability. Through his leadership and
technical contributions, AADL has become an international SAE Aerospace
Standard and has been used by industry leaders such as Honeywell,
Rockwell Collins, and Airbus Industries. Peter has led the development
of the standard, has developed a team to amplify its acceptance, and has
initiated methods of promoting AADL to the software engineering
community. Peter is making substantive contributions to evolving the
state of the practice of software engineering, and his contribution
promises to have a major impact on industry practice.
